For a long time, I have had this urge to be self employed but personal reasons and the immigration system was a deterrent factor for me in turning this into a reality. Now that I have an EAD, I would like to reexplore this idea and wanted to know if there are any entrepreneurial organizations that I could become a member of that will help me network with like minded people. I have heard of TiE and am getting to know more about this organization. If any of you are members, feedback on how it has helped you will help a lot of people planning to join. Are there any other clubs/orgs that help people like me can bounce ideas off of and help bring together like minded people under the same roof?

PS: I had plans of pursuing an MBA for the sole purpose of networking. Unfortunately, this is not something I can do at this point of time.
Why dont we start an entrepreneur thread here on IV. I know it does not go in line with IV's goals, I can set up a forum real quick and we can get a group going there.

I just came back from bombay. I did not have an AP. I went to the consulate for stamping. If you are maintaining valid h1b status and have a stamp, there is no issue at all. Just carry your I-485 receipt with you and make sure you mention it at POE.

If there is a valid I-94 that you can mention on 485 form and if that I-94 is not expired and it is also the latest I-94, then you may be ok.
What if the I 94 is expired and an H1B extension is filed and still waiting for the Approval ?Will that one will also be rejected or by attaching the receipt copy will be good enough?

If you look at the new features list:
A customer-centric home page that provides applicants with a �one-stop shop� of immigration services information.
Simplified navigation and improved search capability.
Enhanced customer service tools including expanded Case Status Online with both email and text functionality.
Information that is written clearly and meets the needs of our customers.
It is pretty vague. They may just make some cosmetic changes for the existing website. I dont see anything new here. I hope they prove me wrong!

Do not edit somebody elses data.
Do not add/delete/modify any column.
Do not sort the data. If you really feel the urge, import it to your local computer and then sort it.
I will sort the data according to PD periodically.

Can you please update on what your lawyer advised to do? I had a misdemeanor (non traffic) charge in 01, that was dismissed as Nolle Prosequi (lack of evidence). I totally forgot about the incident and filed for 485 (self mailed on 6/30) Jul 2nd with out choosing YES. I got the disposition charges from the county court today and I need to update my case before I have further issues. I was NOT finger printed. NO Fines, NO community service, NO Probation and a normal criminal history record check at the county shows NONE. I never had issues with H1B stamping and traveling in and out of US. My labor is not substituted. My 140 is already approved
Can you please send me a PM with what forms your law firm is filing with USCIS? Are they planning to file a motion to reconsider by any chance? (or) Are you just filling another 485 form as an amendment? I don't have my receipts yet. If you can share your law firm info as well in a PM, it would be great.

I am not saying that I will not send one in my case, but I would like to know the correct way to send documentation so that I can send the disposition as soon as I get receipts. What's the reason for denial? If 'ability to pay' is the reason then your employer has slim chances even for an appeal. First step is to wait for denial reason and file an MTR / Appeal. Till the I-140 gets re-instated you won't be eligible for H-1B extension on the basis of your labor certification.
Consult a lawyer immediately as you are eligible to stay only 10 days beyond your authorized stay.

But in case of switching from H1b to EAD (while working for H1b/GC sponsoring employer), there is no termination, changes in the employee�s eligibility or change in job duties. So no requirement to cancel H1b.

I'm sorry i didn't understand you - If i apply EAD/AP in AUG/SEP why it wont be FREE ?
I'll file 485 july 1st but i'm not in a hurry for EAD or AP because my extended
H1B is still Jan 08 and i'm not travelling before Xmas 07 time ....

the free ead/ap is based on the $1010 fee for 485..so if u file ur 485 now.. u r pretty much in the non free group

Hi, I recently got a H1B extension stamping in Chennai consulate upto 2010 and I came back to SFO last week. Since my passport is expiring on July 2009. I-94 was issued upto July 2009.
Now my issue is to extend my I-94 upto the validity of H1B visa. I went through similar thread and it says crossing US border to Mexico or Canada will do to get the new I-94. So I am planning to make a trip to Mexico after my passport got renewed to renew I-94. Does it work?. Or do I have to go out of American Continent to get the new I-94. Some thread from (other sites) said, I need to go out American Continent..Is it true?.
Or is there any other way to extend my I-94 without crossing the border?.
Gurus - Please help if you faced any similar situation and sucessfully got your i-94 renewed.

Yes, you can do this if you are from country that allows you to enter Canada without Canadian visa. Then, you would need to give away your previous I-94 and get a new one upon re-entry to the United States. The problem is that some airlines don't want to take I-94 back if they know you are not traveling for over 30 days to Canada. This is especially true if you enter Canada via road. Somehow, it is best to explain why you need to give your old I-94 away. If they don't take your old I-94, you can ask an immigration officer for a new I-94, explaining the situation. Then, if lucky, he takes your old I-94 and issues a new one with correct date.
